bc-139-md French Bulldog.jpg (68293 bytes)French Bulldog Skull BC-139
$155.00

The French Bulldog, affectionately called "Frenchie," is essentially a mini-English Bulldog. It is thought by some that the smaller specimens of the English Bulldog (see BC-128) were taken aboard ship to France because they could be more easily hidden. Displaced lace workers arrived in France with their small companions, whom they found well suited to cramped living conditions and valuable for killing rats. The small Bulldog (which may have been crossed with French terriers) quickly became popular with the ladies (both upper and lower class) and appears often in paintings of brothels.

The French Bulldog weighs between 19 and 28 lbs. (the English weighs 50-55) and has what are called bat ears, wide at the base, narrower and rounded at the top, and situated high on the head. While its smaller body appears as compact and sturdy as the English Bulldog, its head does not appear as massive. The wide, up-turned lower jaw projects noticeably in front of the upper jaw. The floppy flaps of skin that hang past the lower jaw are called "flews" or "chops."

bc-143e-md Coyote.jpg (30753 bytes)Coyote Skull BC-143E
$70.00

The coyote is found from Central America through central Canada and into Alaska. Belonging to the family Carnivora, it can be distinguished from domestic dogs by its pointed ears and drooping tail. It runs on its toes and can reach speeds of 65 km per hour. The coyote uses its well-developed senses of sight, smell, touch, and hearing for communication. The male coyote will attend the female during gestation and will bring food for her and the pups after birth. The coyote is the most adaptable and resourceful of all the canids. Despite human encroachment on its natural territory, it has not just survived, but flourished.

The Bone Clones® Economy Series - Our goal with this series is to produce affordable quality replicas for zoos, museum discovery centers, schools, artists, etc., so that a new generation of enthusiasts can learn about nature. All Bone Clones® Economy Series skulls are made from the same molds, following the same procedures as our regular Bone Clones® replicas except we do not tool or finish these skulls to the same detail. We still select only the finest specimens to cast, and carefully prepare each mold to capture the original's structure and texture. We presently offer some common North American animals and select human sets in this series.
